GeoGrab: privacy

Short version: GeoGrab keeps almost nothing and sends nothing.

What the site stores

One setting: whether the Timer is on or off. It is saved on your own device, in your browser, so the game remembers it next time. Nothing else is stored: not your name, not your answers, not your scores.

What the site sends

Nothing, to anyone. Your browser downloads the game page, its code, the maps and the font from our own server, and that is all. The game runs on your device.

Counting visits

Our hosting counts how many times each page and map is asked for, and which website a link to GeoGrab came from. It keeps no IP addresses or anything else that could tell who you are, and it throws those records away after 7 days.

Cookies

None.

Tracking and ads

None. No tracking scripts, no ads, no "like" buttons.

Who hosts it

The files are kept on Amazon Web Services (AWS), in a storage bucket in the United States (Northern Virginia). AWS's CloudFront network delivers them from a server near you.

Borders and names on the maps follow the Natural Earth dataset and are not a political statement.
